NSW Waste and Environment Levy review

– reminder for feedback

On 29 February 2012, the Australian Environment Business Network (AEBN), in conjunction with the NSW Office of Heritage and Environment (OHE) and KPMG, held a consultation on the review of the NSW Waste and Environment Levy.

The consultation was held as part of the AEBN’s New Environment Obligations for Business in 2012 Seminar whereby details of the review were presented and feedback from members with operations in NSW were obtained. The feedback from AEBN members will be provided to the NSW Government as part of the consultation process of the review.

If you have not had an opportunity to provide your comments on the review, please do so by forwarding submissions to the NSW OHE no later than 5pm on 13 April 2012.

The review is seeking stakeholder views on how the levy operates as well as ensuring that it continues to increase recycling and reduce the waste that goes to landfill.

Contributions are invited across four key areas:

1. the impact of the waste levy on the recycling industry

2. the impact of the waste levy on

3. funding arrangements to facilitate infrastructure with local councils and industry

4. the impact of the waste levy on illegal dumping, including the proper disposal of asbestos.

Terms of reference for the review are available online.
