Austria-Australia industry funding for developing technologies for decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries

The Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water has announced the Australia-Austria Industrial Decarbonisation Demonstration Partnerships Program that provides funding for joint Australian and Austrian projects that seek development of decarbonisation technologies for hard-to-abate energy-intensive industries. Funding of AUD$20 million (€12 million) is available.

The Program funding is intended to:

  • support advancing the development of innovative technologies to decarbonise for hard-to-abate energy-intensive industries,
  • strengthen connections between Australian and Austrian industry, and
  • share knowledge that will benefit Australia and Austria.

Applicants must have at least one partner from both countries. Up to $12 million is available for Australian industry. Australian applicants can seek up to $3.5 million in funding for a single grant.

The initiative is part of the Australian Government’s investment in international collaboration. It supports Australia’s ambitions to get up to speed in renewable energy and the transition to net zero by 2050.  

Funding applications open at 10.00am 22 April 2024 and will close at 5.00pm (AEST) 18 July 2024.
