Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking your views on the Exposure Draft of the Recycling and Waste Reduction (Export – Paper and Cardboard) Rules 2023.
The Department has drafted the rules based on advice from industry experts and key stakeholders. They aim to strengthen the protection of our environment, while allowing Australia to capture the economic value of our waste.
Your feedback is expected to assist the Department to understand how the draft rules will affect exporters and the recycling industry and inform the appropriate settings for the final Rules.
The Department intends to use your feedback to inform the final version of the rules, that is expected to be finalised by the end of 2023. It is expected that the Paper and Cardboard Rules will come into effect on 1 July 2024.
