EPA Victoria is seeking your comment on two draft updated guidelines –
- Separation distance guideline;
- Landfill buffer guideline.
These updated guidelines will advise?land use and development?decisions that:
- protect human health and amenity from the effects of pollution and waste associated with the operation of industry and landfills;
- protect industry and landfills from inappropriate land use and development nearby that may constrain operations.
The draft will replace current guidance.
When finalised, these guidelines will support:
- planning decision makers
- local and state government agencies
- industry
- developers
- and communities.
to make informed land use decisions under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and the Environment Protection Act 2017. It is intended that these guidelines will be referenced in the Victoria Planning Provisions. This means planning decision makers will be required to consider the guidelines as relevant.
Please provide feedback on both draft guidelines using the surveys by 17 February 2023.
