The QLD Department of Environment and Science has announced that reef protection regulations will apply from 1 December 2022 to graziers, sugarcane producers and banana growers for minimum practice agricultural standards (including the requirement for sugarcane producers to prepare a farm nitrogen and phosphorus budget) in the following Reef regions:
- Wet Tropics – grazing
- Burdekin – bananas
- Mackay Whitsunday – bananas and grazing
- Fitzroy – bananas and sugarcane
- Burnett Mary – bananas, sugarcane and grazing.
The QLD Government will conduct online information sessions this month to assist producers understand the requirements and what they need to do to comply.
