The Victorian Essential Services Commission (ESC) has published the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Regulations 2018 (the VEET Regulations), which have a commencement date of 10 December 2018.
This update of the 2008 VEET Regulations includes changes to reflect the technical advances relating to energy efficiency and to streamline the regulatory framework. The new VEET Regulations differ from the 2008 VEET Regulations in the following ways:
- Technical content is moved from the VEET Regulations to a separate technical document.
- Eligible upgrades (prescribed activities) and associated incentives are updated to make sure the level of incentive is consistent with the energy saved by the activity and red tape is minimised.
- Incentives for four activities are removed (installing standby power controllers, the destruction of pre-1996 refrigerators and freezers, installing gas clothes dryers, and installing low-flow trigger nozzles), and new incentives for gas boilers and fan motors are introduced.
The ESC has also published their 2017 VEET performance report. The report includes information on VEET participant application and certificate assessment outcomes, ESC audit and compliance outcomes and other key work activities and projects delivered to strengthen and manage the expansion of the VEET scheme.
