SA Government has approved the $1.5 billion Ceres wind farm project (Ceres Project) on the Yorke Peninsula.
The 197- turbine wind farm development located between Ardrossan and Minlaton is set to become Australia’s biggest wind farm.
SA Minister for Planning John Rau said the development had been approved subject to conditions, following consultation with the local community. These conditions relate to the construction and operation of the wind farm and infrastructure such as transformers, transmission lines and cabling.
He said the wind farm would connect to the Adelaide electricity grid via an under-sea transmission cable from Port Julia to St Kilda.
Mr Rau said the wind farm company behind the project had also proposed a $5 million community benefit fund as part of the project.
