The Workshop will cover changes, such as – 

  • Ongoing implementation of the Victorian OHS Regulations 2017 as it relates to the Globally Harmonised System for the Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS);

  • Effective 31 March 2018 – ACT comes into line with GHS;

  • Changes brought about through the updated Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail 7.5 Edition (ADG 7.5) – effective 1 MARCH 2018, including changes to Minor Quantity Labelling, and much more…

  • Alignment of AS 1940:2017 The Storage and Handling of Flammable and Combustible Liquids with GHS obligations.

 

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL WORKSHOP – AM Half Day, 24 April 2018

This practical Workshop is designed to bring you up to speed with Dangerous Goods Storage and Handling and Transport laws and requirements, including Hazardous Substances to Intermediate Level, and will compare how Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Substances legislation is set up in Australian states and territories. 

The Workshop will cover –

  • Storage and Handling – such as:  Chemical Compatibility, Segregation rules, Placarding, Signage, Manifest, Fire Protection Quantities, Bunding;  and

  • Road and Rail Transport – such as Segregation rules and Compatibility of chemicals, Labelling, Placarding and Signage, Transport documentation and Bulk delivery, Risk Assessment requirements, and much more.

Organisations have an obligation to ensure your site is compliant with dangerous goods laws and that staff receive appropriate training.  The AEBN recommends that staff receive refresher training every 2 to 3 years, and certainly when changes are announced.

Note:  If you have responsibility for other state(s) and territories other than Victoria, please contact the AEBN National Office on 03 9397 2511, to ensure we include this information in our Workshop.

The Workshop will include:

Storage and Handling:

  • Dangerous Goods and Substance Registers / Placarding of stores, vehicles and containers / Manifest / Fire Protection Quantities
  • Segregation and incompatibilities of chemicals
  • Segregation rules and techniques – segregation devices (stores and vehicles)
  • Bunding rules for the safe storage of chemicals
  • Placarding and Signage
  • Risk assessment requirements
  • and much more.

Dangerous Goods Road and Rail Transport

  • Segregation
  • Labeling, Placarding and Signage
  • Limited Quantity Packing and Labelling
  • Transport Documentation
  • Bulk delivery, and
  • much more. 

Course notes will be provided on a USB.  Delegates may bring along laptops (fully charged). Note pads, pens and a delegates’ kit will be provided.

Upon Completion of the Workshop

Delegates completing the Workshop will be provided with a Certificate of Attendance by the Australian Environment Business Network (AEBN).

 

Prerequisite

Delegates attending the AEBN Intermediate Level to Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Substances – Storage, Handling & Transport WORKSHOP should have a sound understanding of the topics covered in the AEBN Introductory Level to Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Substances and GHS Workshop.  It is recommended that personnel undertake the AEBN Introductory Level Workshop prior to undertaking the AEBN Intermediate Level workshop.
