Review Victorian Energy Upgrades Program Compliance and Protections – Comment sought

The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is seeking comment on the proposed consumer protections, compliance reforms and a Code of Conduct for the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.

The Victorian Energy Upgrades program provides subsidies for residential and business consumers to reduce their energy use by upgrading appliances, processes or buildings.

The Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) Act 2007 establishes the legislative and regulatory framework for the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.

The Department is reviewing the legislative structure of the program to ensure it continues to operate effectively and efficiently, meet ambitious emissions reduction targets and support the interests of consumers.

As part of the public consultation process on the review of the VEET Act, stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide feedback on:

  • A consultation paper on a proposed Code of Conduct for Accredited Providers, along with an appendix outlining what the Code might include. The Department invites stakeholders to comment on the paper and appendix and respond to the guiding questions by close of business, Thursday 18 November 2021.
  • A consultation paper on program compliance and enforcement, consumer protections and data privacy. The Department invites stakeholders to comment on the paper and respond to the guiding questions by close of business, Thursday 25 November 2021.

Comments can be sent by email to energy.upgrades@delwp.vic.gov.au
