Regulation of waste tyres on farms – Comment sought

The Victorian Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning (DELWP) is conducting a Survey on the number and uses of waste tyres on farms and how farmers manage the environmental risks from use of waste tyres.

Your feedback will be used to determine if the requirements for waste tyres on farms under the Environment Protection Regulations 2021 are fit for purpose and balance the needs of farmers and our environment.

If the regulations do need to change, your feedback will help determine how waste tyres may be stored and used on farms and what level of safety controls they will need. Gaining an accurate view of how many tyres farms need and use will help the Department to scale any new risk controls appropriately.

Feedback from the survey will be used by the Department and EPA to assess whether there is need for any changes to current regulation under the Environment Protection Regulations 2021. If changes are needed, survey responses will be used to develop updated risk-weighted regulations.

Please provide comment via the Survey by early December 2021.
