The Victorian Environment Protection Authority (EPA Victoria) is gearing up for the commencement of the new Waste Tracker system, designed to track reportable priority waste in the new waste framework to commence on 1 July 2021 under the Environment Protection Act 2017.
Under the new laws , anyone who handles Reportable Priority Waste must let EPA know every time it changes hands. Producers, accredited consigners, transporters, drivers and receivers of reportable priority waste must use Waste Tracker to complete transactions.
This system replaces the current electronic Waste Transport Certificate system, which closes on 16 July 2021. All waste transport certificates must be receipted by this date and EPA will take enforcement action for any outstanding certificates.
Changes come into effect on 1 July 2021 and businesses can start preparing to use Waste Tracker now.
The EPA Portal is now open for the creation of an account for Waste Tracker. Waste Tracker will go live in late June 2021 in preparation for the new law commencing on 1 July 2021.
