FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Recycling Victoria Household Education and Behaviour Change Fund

Sustainability Victoria is offering funding for household education and behaviour change campaigns to help educate Victorians to better manage and reduce their household waste.

The funding as part of the Recycling Victoria (RV) policy, is for the RV Household Education and Behaviour Change Program, which will involve state wide and local campaigns.

The Fund will provide financial support to all Victorian councils and alpine resort management boards (ARMBs). Councils will receive funding consisting of a $30,000 base amount plus a variable component which depends on the size of the population it needs to reach and the behaviour challenges it faces (maximum of $106,000). ARMBs will receive $25,000.

Applicants for funding must:

  • use the campaign materials developed by Sustainability Victoria when they introduce new household recycling services; or
  • transition to using the campaign materials developed by Sustainability Victoria if they have already delivered a 4-stream household recycling service.

The current funding is Round 1 of 4 planned funding rounds. Councils and ARMBs should apply in Round 1 if they are introducing new household recycling services before June 2023 or have already delivered a 4-stream household recycling service.

Guidelines for the funding have been released. Applications close on 18 June 2021 and can be made after registration with Smarty Grants, and then clicking on Recycling Victoria Household Education and Behaviour Change Fund to apply.
