The WA Government will provide a financial assistance package of up to $3.5 million to support network participants financially impacted by the deferral of WA’s container deposit scheme – Containers for Change.
In preparation for the scheme, participants made financial commitments such as taking on leases, staff and technology to support their operations. This funding is to assist those support network participants remain viable until the scheme commences. It will also ensure sustainability of the collection network, as stated by the WA Government.
The funding will be made available from 2 June 2020 until scheme commencement.
