The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is working on a Biodiversity Response Planning (BRP) for the Loddon Mallee area and seeks your feedback via an online survey to help identify how biodiversity assets may be prioritised for future works and funding.
Biodiversity (the variety of different plants, animals, and microbes that form ecosystems) plays an important role in our lives and preserving it is a key challenge that faces society. Biodiversity has a crucial role in providing climate stability, food security, medicine, quality habitat for our native animals, ecosystem resilience, protecting water resources, breaking down and absorbing pollution, and many other valuable services.
BRP is a collaborative approach to encourage everybody to work together and align biodiversity actions to support the goals of the 20-year biodiversity plan Protecting Victoria’s Environment – Biodiversity 2037.
At this stage, all information collected with be to inform the understanding of current programs and actions addressing biodiversity decline, and could identify gaps and future opportunities of biodiversity and community priorities. It is expected that this process will generate great ideas for action.
