New environmental laws to impact businesses operating in Victoria

Changes to laws released in 2019
to take effect in 2020

On 28 August 2018, the Environment Protection Amendment Act 2018 became law in Victoria.  This is the biggest overhaul of environmental legislation in Victoria since the original Act in 1970.

This means, significant changes in Victoria will be released in 2019 for consultation to ensure the implementation of this new law is on track for its commencement in 2020.

This legislation will provide a significant shift in environmental requirements for businesses operating in Victoria.  The cornerstone of the legislation is the introduction of the General Environmental Duty which is a significant change to the way you, your Directors and organisation will be required to manage your organisation’s environmental obligations.

It is important to understand what these changes will mean to you, your organisation and your Directors in order to prevent risk.

Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact either Sammie Duong or Tina Khoury, Australian Environment Business Network (AEBN) National Office on 03 9397 2511.

We look forward to seeing you at the AEBN National Conference and AEBN Member Networking Drinks on 1 March 2019!

With kind regards
