The Federal Department of Health has established an Expert Health Panel for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to review the current literature on potential health effects of PFAS exposure and identify priority areas for research.
PFAS are manufactured chemicals that have been used in a range of products, including in fire-fighting foams, pesticides and stain repellents.
The panel is expected to provide its advice to the Minister for Health in February 2018, and the advice will then be released publicly. For further information please click here.
