Guidance documents on PFAS and benzo(a)pyrene contamination released

The Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment (CRC CARE) has released a set of five guidance documents on the assessment, management and remediation of sites contaminated with firefighting foam chemicals.

CRC CARE is an independent, government funded organisation that works with industry and government partners on environmental contamination issues. The guidance on perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which are per- poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) compounds, is intended to assist consultants and regulators in Australia make decisions about whether a PFAS-contaminated site requires further investigation.

The documents are available at http://www.crccare.com/knowledge-sharing/pfos-and-pfoa-guidelines.

CRC CARE has also released guidance on risk-based management and remediation of benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P) contaminated sites.
