A 2.2% increase in scope 1 emissions (direct emissions) compared to 2014-2015 data has been reported by the Clean Energy Regulator following the release of the 2015-2016 National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting data.
The Chair of the Clean Energy Regulator, Chloe Munro has stated in a media release that “The increase in scope 1 emissions is a direct result of increased electricity generation and higher levels of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production.”
