FUNDING OPPORTUNITY – Reef Trust funding available to address gully and stream bank erosion

The Federal Government has announced that the Reef Trust Phase IV Gully and Stream Bank Erosion Control Program is now open for funding applications.

The Reef Trust will commit $20 million across 2016–17 to 2021–22 for the program to address one of the highest threats to the Great Barrier Reef –  sediment run-off from gully erosion. The program will focus on priority areas for gully erosion, as well as stream bank erosion including in minor streams and drainage lines, large river channels, and high-energy streams in wet coastal catchments. This will be achieved through providing landholders and communities with opportunities to address sediment losses from a range of sources across all Reef catchments.

The application period closes at 2pm AEST on 15 December 2016. Further details on the application process are available at http://www.environment.gov.au/marine/gbr/reeftrust/addressing-stream-bank-gully-erosion.
