Summary of Annual Emissions including the land sector – June 2014
Australia’s National Greenhouse Accounts are made up of a series of comprehensive reports and databases that estimate, and account for, Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions that fulfils Australia’s international and domestic reporting requirements.
Australia’s annual emissions for the 2013-14 Financial Year (excluding emissions from land use, land use change and forestry) are estimated to be 542.6 Mt CO2-e.
-
National emissions levels increased by 0.4% in trend terms for the June quarter 2014;
- Annual emissions for the 2013-14 financial year (excluding the land sector) decreased 1.4 compared to the previous financial year.
Over 2013-14, there was a decline in emissions from electricity (refer to section 2.1), reflecting lower electricity demand and changes in the generation mix. Emissions from transport (refer to section 2.3), industrial processes (refer to section 2.5) and agriculture (refer to section 2.6) also declined over the year. These declines were partially offset by increases in the fugitive emissions (refer to section 2.4) and stationary energy (excluding electricity) (refer to section 2.2) sectors.
