Applications are now open for grants to fund large-scale native vegetation projects across South Australia.
The Native Vegetation Council Significant Environmental Benefit Grants (SEB) scheme helps protect sensitive habitats and improve biodiversity.
SA Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources native vegetation unit manager Piers Brissenden said the grant scheme was helping to restore vulnerable habitats and species and control the spread of invasive species.
Since it was introduced in 2009 the SEB grants scheme has supported 55 projects across the state and committed more than $11 million to conservation enhancement and landscape management works, he said.
Mr Brissenden said projects could include revegetation, the protection and management of a sensitive area of vegetation or large-scale weed reduction.
Partnerships between community groups and landholders, government or businesses are particularly welcome.
The grants support targets in regional natural resources management and biodiversity plans.
Applications close on 31 March 2014.
