EPA Victoria has released the following new information –
“The Environment Protection (Fees) Regulations 2001 set out the fees payable under the Environment Protection Act including for: works approval applications; licences; permits for transporting prescribed waste; septic tank permits; and environmental audits.
“Regulation 9(2) under the Regulations includes a provision for a licence holder to apply to EPA Victoria for approval of an emission estimation technique.
“This information bulletin specifies the issues licence holders should consider prior to making an application, and the requirements EPA Victoria would take into account when making a decision about whether to approve an emission estimate technique.” Read more…

“The accredited licensee system aims to achieve environmental improvements through co-operation between industry, government and the community. This is achieved through a collaborative approach where all stakeholders play a role in setting and achieving environmental goals.
“Companies that can demonstrate the capability and commitment to achieve good environmental performance can be freed from a prescriptive approach to works approval and licensing by applying for accreditation.
“These guidelines provide general advice and information to assist companies prepare an application for accreditation and maintain accreditation once granted. Read more…

“EPA provides a specific approval procedure, known as research, development and demonstration (RD&D) approval, for genuine RD&D projects that would otherwise require works approval.
“Large projects that pose the same level of risk of environmental impact as established commercial scale industrial processes will have to undergo the usual works approval.
“Small-scale research at recognised research institutions would not normally make the premises scheduled and these situations should be discussed with EPA.” Read more…
“Works approvals are public documents issued by EPA Victoria under the Environment Protection Act 1970. They are required for industrial and waste management activities that have the potential for significant environmental impact.
