The Federal Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities is undertaking a review of the Hazardous Waste (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1989 and associated regulations, to ensure that Australia effectively and efficiently meets its international obligations and national policy objectives for managing hazardous substances, hazardous wastes and other wastes.
An Issues Paper has been released as the first stage in the consultation process for the review. The paper seeks feedback from stakeholders on issues that should be addressed in the review.
